Hannah Galway was born in Comox, British Columbia and trained at Canada’s National Ballet School. Hannah joined The National Ballet of Canada as an RBC Apprentice in 2017 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2024.
Most recently, Hannah debuted in the title role in the world premiere of Emma Bovary, the title role in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Amour in the North American premiere of Carlos Acosta’s Don Quixote. Hannah also performed in the North American premiere of Emma Portner’s islands. Hannah’s repertoire includes the Other Stepsister and Blossom in Cinderella, Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Evelyn Lambart in Frame by Frame and the Bee in The Nutcracker as well as roles in Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Onegin, MADDADDAM, Anna Karenina, The Merry Widow, The Dream, The Second Detail, The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Passion, Emergence, Angels’ Atlas, Serenade, Jewels, Elite Syncopations, Paz de la Jolla, Paquita, The Dreamers Ever Leave You and Skyward.
Hannah was awarded the Patron Award of Merit in 2020 and 2019 and the RBC Emerging Artist Award in 2018.
