Dance is for Everyone!
The National Ballet of Canada is committed to serving Canada’s diverse communities through dance, inspiring creativity, imagination, self-confidence and lifelong relationships with movement, music and the arts. Our education and community engagement programmes serve children and families, elementary and high school students, young adults, the Disability Community and the general public.
The National Ballet of Canada’s Education and Community Engagement programmes are generously supported by the Anna McCowan-Johnson Fund at The National Ballet of Canada, Endowment Foundation.
YOU dance
YOU dance (Youth, Outreach and Understanding Dance) is a FREE programme designed for elementary students. Available in-schools, in theatre, via livestream, through a residency and a relaxed format, this multifaceted, hands-on programme provides a fun and engaging introduction to the artform of ballet.
Share the Magic
The National Ballet of Canada’s Share the Magic programme provides free access to live ballet performances. Since its inception in 1986, Share the Magic has brought the joy of dance to 110,000 audience members at absolutely no cost.
Relaxed Performances
Relaxed Performances are designed to welcome the Disability Community and those who find access to the arts limited, to enjoy ballet in a more relaxed and approachable environment.
Student Matinees and SHSM
The National Ballet of Canada offers student matinees for only $15 a ticket and provides teachers with a study guide to help prepare students for a live performance. We also offer workshops by arts professionals for Specialist High Skills Major high school students.
Class on Stage
A unique opportunity to see the dancers of The National Ballet of Canada in the daily ritual of company class, elevated to an on-stage experience at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
Creative Action
Creative Action shares The National Ballet of Canada’s resources with the Canadian dance community and develops Canadian choreographic talent.
